What are the age requirements to enroll a child?
To enroll a child, he or she must be 5 - 15 years old.

Does it cost to be in Big Brothers Big Sisters?
We are able to provide our programs free of charge because of the funding we receive through the United Way and through our own fundraisers. However, the Bigs do use their own money to do things with their Littles.

What is the minimum age requirement to volunteer for Community One on One, Big For a Day, School Buddies and Six to Six?
The minimum age is 18 years old.

Can someone under 18 years old volunteer for any programs?
Yes! We use high school volunteers to help mentor children in our after school programs.

Are children matched on a first come, first serve basis?
We do not match children on a first come, first serve basis. We match children with volunteers who have similar interests.

What type of background checks do you perform on volunteers?
We do the following background checks on volunteers to ensure the safety of the children in our programs: state and local criminal history checks, sex-offender check, a BMV check (a copy of the volunteer's driver's license and car insurance is required), and we contact three references.

What does the application process consist of to be a volunteer?
Application received, volunteer references received, volunteer criminal history check, volunteer BMV check, volunteer sex-offender check, interview, home assessment and either an acceptance or denial letter.
